Matching-Grant Facility for Agribusinesses (MGFA)

Call for Proposals 2026

The Matching-Grant Facility for Agribusinesses (MGFA) is now accepting applications from eligible agribusinesses operating in or sourcing from six target provinces of Lao PDR.

The facility supports investments that strengthen sustainable and deforestation-free agricultural value chains while contributing to climate-resilient agricultural development and improved livelihoods.

Successful applicants may receive matching-grant funding of between EUR 5,000 and EUR 50,000, covering up to 50% of the proposed investment value, together with technical assistance to support the implementation of eligible investments that align with the objectives of the Scaling up Implementation of Governance, Forest Landscapes Management (SU I-GFLM) project.

Target Provinces

The Call for Proposals is open to agribusinesses operating in or sourcing from the following provinces:

📍 Sayaboury

📍 Luang Prabang

📍 Houaphan

📍 Oudomxay

📍 Luang Namtha

📍 Bokeo

Funding Available

💶 Total available grant-funding budget: EUR 1,800,000

💰 Matching-grant funding per agribusiness: EUR 5,000 to EUR 50,000

🤝 Grant funding may cover up to 50% of the proposed investment value

📈 Applicants must contribute the remaining 50% through their own resources

What Does the Facility Support?

The facility supports investments that contribute to:

🌱 Sustainable agricultural production

🌳 Deforestation-free agricultural value chains

🌦️ Climate-resilient farming practices

🤝 Improved market opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses

🌿 Reduction of forest degradation and deforestation

📈 Sustainable economic development in rural areas

In addition to financial support, selected applicants may receive technical assistance throughout the investment planning and implementation process.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants are privately owned agribusinesses that:

✅ Are legally registered and operating in Lao PDR

✅ Operate in or source agricultural products from the project target areas

✅ Have been operating for at least two years

✅ Demonstrate financial and operational capacity to implement the proposed investment

✅ Can provide the required co-financing contribution
